Battle of Lewisham Public Artwork

We last gathered together in 2017 at the unveiling of the plaque commemorating the 40th Anniversary of the Battle of Lewisham

And so much has happened since that time.

We have seen an increase in racism and xenophobia in the UK. Reporting of hate crimes has increased.

I am proud that I live in the borough of Lewisham where diversity and tolerance is celebrated.

I believe it is important to know our past, because if we do not know our past how can we make things better for the future?

This public art will enable those today and in the future to ask questions and to know about the Battle of Lewisham.

That we must always come together and stand shoulder to shoulder against those who choose hate over love.
