Meet Brenda

In September, Labour Party members in Lewisham will have the opportunity to select Labour’s next candidate for the Mayor of Lewisham.

Many of you will now know that I have decided to put my name forward to be the Labour Party candidate for Mayor of Lewisham.

I have lived in Lewisham since I was a teenager, my family live here and I have raised my son here. Lewisham has been my home for 34 years and campaigning for change in Lewisham is what brought me to politics to begin with, after I spoke out against proposed cuts to my son’s primary school when he was 6. Since then I have served as a Parent Governor, been actively involved in local campaigns and represented New Cross as a Labour Councillor.

I have no doubt that I have benefited from living in a community like Lewisham’s – one that has supported me and enriched my life since I first moved here. I am motivated every day by the thought of improving the lives of my friends, my neighbours and my community.

I can think of no greater honour than to have the opportunity to represent the borough and community I love as your Labour Mayor.

If you’d like to find out more about me or my vision for Lewisham, please join me this Sunday at Out of the Brew café (306 New Cross Road, SE14 6AF) between 3pm and 6pm.
